Failure Monitor
Detect node failures.
Detect node failures.
Quick and easy analysis of bus status.
Detect events in bus data.
The CANalarm is a low priced analysis tool that can be installed in the bus permanently.
It makes it possible to build up a separate and redundant monitor without change of configuration and program of the master controller. It works passive and is therefore non-reactive.
The whole device is placed into a 9‑pin D‑Sub plug. It is easy to implement with the autobaud function.
The field of application is wide. We will talk about it in the following.
Which application comes to your mind ?
The configuration is done with a small tool on the PC. The CANalarm can stay within the bus for this.
As an option, you can do basic settings with the two buttons and the display.
In the basic configuration, the CANalarm is equipped for monitoring bus traffic load and error frames.
With software licenses, you can upgrade to Failure Monitoring for up to 32 nodes. The Message Trigger is another software license, which makes it possible to give an alarm at a certain CAN telegram.
The purchased licenses, as well as firmware updates, can be installed with the PC tool.
Without any other licenses, the CANalarm monitors bus traffic load and error frames.
If the bus traffic load passes a limit determined, the alarm output will be switched on. The amount of error frames and their rate/s is also monitored. For this data, you can also free determine an alarm limit.
Up to 32 nodes can be monitored by one CANalarm. The CAN telegrams of each node are recognized. If a certain node doesn’t send another telegram within a to be determined time, the alarm output switches respectively to his configuration.
Do you need a monitor for more than 32 nodes ? Just take another CANalarm.
The message Trigger gives the alarm as it receives a certain telegram. You can switch each and every bit in a mask relevant or irrelevant, therefore the properties can be exactly defined. This function opens wide possibilities, but it requires a good knowledge of the certain telegrams on your bus.
