New func­tions in CAN-Bus Tes­ter 2 – User software

The com­po­si­ti­on of Qua­li­ty Level

In gene­ral, the qua­li­ty level is a theo­re­ti­cal value, com­po­si­ted from the steep­ness of edges, dis­tur­ban­ce-free vol­ta­ge level and reflec­tions. Plea­se read this artic­le for more details about it. In the new soft­ware ver­si­on, it is now pos­si­ble to show how the mea­su­red qua­li­ty level is com­po­si­ted. With this, it may be easier to know, which of the three values is respon­si­ble for a dete­rio­ra­ti­on. It is dis­play­ed within a tool-tip when you place and hold the mou­se poin­ter over the value for a moment, both within the sin­gle node mea­su­re­ment and within the bar view of all nodes with the sel­ec­ted node.

Reso­lu­ti­on of Traf­fic Load Display

The reso­lu­ti­on of the traf­fic load dis­play is now increased. Ins­tead of show­ing an inte­ger per­cen­ta­ge, now tenths of a per­cent are show­ed. The dis­play is high­ly accu­ra­te and based on the last second. Valid CAN frames are detec­ted and are shown in a litt­le dis­play bes­i­de the traf­fic load bar.

CANopen Mas­ter within the node list

Detec­ted CANopen-mas­ters are now shown in the node list or can be manu­al­ly added. Becau­se within a CANopen net­work it is pos­si­ble to have more than one mas­ter, an assign­ment of the type is pos­si­ble. With this func­tion­a­li­ty, mas­ters can now be mea­su­red on the phy­si­cal level.

Import of CAN­touch mea­su­re­ment archives

Alre­a­dy within ver­si­on 4.6.4, the­re was an exten­si­on to import CAN­touch mea­su­re­ment archi­ves. With this, it is now pos­si­ble to get the popu­lar mea­su­re­ment reports from CAN­touch measurements.

Sta­tis­tic func­tion­a­li­ty in the pro­to­col monitor

The pro­to­col moni­tor was impro­ved with a sta­tis­tic func­tion for rela­ti­ve timestamps. You can now see how much time was bet­ween 2 mes­sa­ges from a node, mini­mal, maxi­mal and avera­ge. This is of cour­se also available for the stan­da­lo­ne pro­to­col moni­tor CAN­vi­si­on.
